Are your words creating Self-Love or Self-Sabotage?

How often do you find yourself caught in a situation where your words have offended someone because you haven’t taken the time to stop, breathe and most importantly think about how you need to respond?
Growing up we are taught the classic nursery rhyme “Sticks and stones may break my bones, but words will never hurt me”, and though good intentions are there, we aren’t teaching our children how harmful words can be. The way we speak to someone can have the ability to brighten their day, heal their sorrows or tear their world apart.
Thanks to social media and the rise of ‘keyboard warriors’, research has shown that one in four people in the UK has experienced some sort of cyber bullying.
Not only do the words we use create our reality, but it also helps make the reality of those around us. When you speak your truth with positive and inspiring words, you are more likely to attract people who share the same values as you. Where if you are speaking negatively and encouraging gossip, you will find yourself attracting people who act the same.
Before you speak, ask yourself
- Are the words I’m about to use encouraging and uplifting?
- How will this impact the person I am talking to?
- Am I staying true to myself and my core values?
However, powerful and hurtful words don’t just come up in conversation with other people. It also comes from the way we speak to ourselves. Therefore, making the most crucial part of the day being how we talk to ourselves in the morning. Let’s face it; if you wake up feeling refreshed telling yourself how amazing you are, Your day is going to go a lot smoother than if you were to wake up self-sabotaging, saying you still look bloated from dinner the night before. Starting your day off with the self-love you deserve is the key to success.
Tips to start your day off right
- Describe yourself in 3 positive words
- Exercise- walk, yoga, swimming etc.
- Set a goal for the day
- Pick your daily Affirmation cards
